Dear product people,
currently the chances are ideal to establish our first exclusive online event in the history of ProductTank Karlsruhe. Together we defy times of curfews, travel bans and ordered home offices.
For this purpose, we deliver an absolute highlight directly into your office or living room, in that we were able to win David J. Bland for the talk. Anyone eagerly following the Amazon book statistics has surely come across his current work Testing Business Ideas.
Last year David was approached by Alex Osterwalder to co-author a new book about testing business ideas. They had both observed a gap between sketching out an idea and finding practical ways to rapidly test it. Building off of Business Model Generation, Lean Startup and Value Proposition Design books, they decided to curate a list of experiments for people who are stuck making progress on their idea. They’ve identified three major themes from design thinking. The first, desirability, describes whether or not people want the solution. The second, viability, speaks to if you can create a sustainable business with the solution. The third, feasibility, goes into the steps to run the infrastructure. In this talk, David will give you a rare behind the scenes look at how he tested the book content along the way by using lean and agile principles.
David recently keynoted Mind the Product in San Francisco and advises companies on how to find product market fit using lean startup, design thinking and agile. He’s the co-author of Testing Business Ideas with Alex Osterwalder. David pioneered GE FastWorks with Eric Ries, advised emerging product teams at Adobe and mentored Toyota on lean startup practices. Before his transition into advising, David spent over 10 years of his career at technology startups. He stays connected to the startup scene through his work at Singularity University, Draper University, Backstage Capital and several other Silicon Valley accelerators.
