Product Tank Cardiff: World Product Day
World Product Day is an annual event to celebrate product and tech craft with our community, featuring in 200 locations all over the world. We have two world-class speakers celebrating with us. Here’s a preview of our speaker talks:
David J Bland: Testing Business Ideas
David was recently approached by Alex Osterwalder to co-author a new book about testing business ideas. They had both observed a gap between sketching out an idea and finding practical ways to rapidly test it. Building off of Business Model Generation, Lean Startup and Value Proposition Design books, they decided to curate a list of experiments for people who are stuck making progress on their idea. They’ve identified three major themes from design thinking. The first, desirability, describes whether or not people want the solution. The second, viability, speaks to if you can create a sustainable business with the solution. The third, feasibility, goes into the steps to run the infrastructure. In this talk, David will give you a rare behind the scenes look at how he tested the book content along the way by using lean principles.
Roman Pitchler: Dealing with Difficult Stakeholders: Tips for Product People
Leading stakeholders and development teams is notoriously challenging for us product people: We lack the power to tell the individuals what to do, but we need their support to progress the product. To make things worse, stakeholders come from different departments and often have different perspectives and interests, which leads to disagreements and conflicts.
