The major problem was that the production floor was disorganized with many boxes laying around.

After weighing different options, managers decided that a modular system would best suit their needs. The facility also has 2 Kanban bins for parts. When one of the two bins is empty, additional components are ordered to avoid running out of stock. A specific location for each part is required to reduce unnecessary movements.

70% of the RUGGEDCOM production floor is equipped with a material handling system. Line-side gravity flow racks feed parts to assemblers, and all racks are close enough to easily reach them. This makes for an ergonomic work environment and eliminates unnecessary movements.

The results proved that it was indeed a smart decision to change their equipment!
