Dan Jones, chairman of the Lean Academy in the UK, explains the two kinds of flow through hospitals in this clip about Lean Healthcare. “Healthcare everywhere is in crisis,” he said, “not just in the United States where you spend a tremendous amount of money but don’t get better outcomes.”

He made his remarks during a panel discussion with Jim Womack, founder of the nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute, and John Shook, LEI CEO, to mark the 25th anniversary of “lean production” being coined by Womack’s research team at MIT to describe Toyota’s business system. .
